Istanbul Archaeology Museums
Three museums - the Archaeology Museum, the Museum of the Ancient Orient, and the Tiled Kiosk - form the complex of Museums known as the 'Istanbul Archaeology Museums'. Housed here are artifacts on the history of the regions civilizations and empires. The exhibitions have their roots in the 1800s, when Osman Hamdi Bey, an Ottoman archeologist, began assembling pieces from the royal Ottoman archives. The collection expanded greatly once the modern Republic formed. What you have is a massive, well-curated collection of artifacts that give you insight into the history of Anatolia, the Mediterranean, the Levant, the Middle East, and other parts of West and Southwest Asia.
