The Great Mosque of Xi'an is located near the Drum Tower on 30 Huajue Lane. The mosque is a sprawling complex and covers 130,000 square meters. It is the oldest and one of the most renowned mosques in the country, having been founded in 742. The majority of the existing Xi’an Grrand Mosque was constructed during the Ming Dynasty and further expanded in the Qing Dynasty. Unlike many other mosques on earth, the Great Mosque of Xi'an is constructed entirely in the Chinese style, aside from some calligraphy and other minor Arabic decorations.
