It’s been more than three years since my last post! A lot’s happened since way back when, and it’s time to catch you all up on what I’ve been up to, and what you can expect in the near future from my blog.
At the moment, my fiance and I are living in DaNang, Vietnam. It’s home. It’s a semi-overlooked city in central Vietnam. Most people that visit DaNang are just passing through to the major tourist attractions in Hoi An and Hue. But DaNang as a city has so many things about it that make it an incredibly livable city — from a developing public transportation system to a beach that is flat out beautiful, to people who are disarmingly friendly and food that is beyond stellar — DaNang makes a strong case for being a place to settle down for a while.
In the time since I last posted, I’ve been up to quite a lot. Here’s a short rundown:
- Living for a year in New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa, becoming a Jafa, seeing the glory that is Cape Reinga, loving wineries on Waiheke, and staring in awe at the Coromandel (and some of the insane roads out there).
- Roughing it and living it up in French Polynesia for a month. Doing everything from camping on a motu in Bora Bora, to staying in an overwater bungalo for free, and everything in between. French Polynesia is one of those parts of the world that grabs you and never lets go. Plus… poisson cru. I could eat that stuff for days and days!
- Tons of Southeast Asian exploring. From eating Chili Crab in Singapore, to drinking sugarcane rum in Phuket, to staying in a private villa on Koh Samui, to escaping a bedbug infested hotel room in Siem Reap, it’s been a wild, wild trek
The point is, I have a lot of stories to tell, a lot of advice to give, and a lot of pictures to share. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as I unwind it all for you.
